Pituitary adenoma removal and recovery

Sept. 11 2014 I had an adenoma removed from my pituitary at Ma General Hospital. Since my surgery i have experienced an onset of joint pain and stiffness along with muscular pain and total loss of energy. My endocrinologist ordered a stimulus test to see if my adrenals were working properly. Whatever they injected me with made me feel 47 again. Woke the next day without any pain or stiffness and was back to my energetic self. Unfortunately it was short lived (a day or so). Just saw my endocrinologist yesterday and explained how I felt after the test. He made an appointment at Ma General for me to have another test done that will distress my body by raising my glucose levels. Its a highly monitored test (about 3 hours) I guess this will show them how my endocrine system will react to stress. I have not been put on any steroid or hormone yet. My test is tomorrow at Ma General.
Has anyone else experienced what i'm going through after surgery? Like to know im not alone on this. I want to be 47 again not 97.

Some places are um, conservative... so they don't test based on symptoms...

Weird since you had surgery and it is known that things change post op. Heck I have not been stable yet... :)

Perhaps your endo can find another place to get the test done.

They never did the test. First of all miscommunication between the hospital and my doctor. The endo at Ma General doesn't see a need for the test because my numbers haven't shown any  issue except for testosterone. He doesn't know my whole situation like my endo back home. Ma Gen ordered another 24 hr urine test, saliva test and more bloodwork. My endo here will be calling the endo at Ma Gen. He agreed and told me to go through with the testing. A real let down. Thought I was gonna get some answers. I'm thinking of asking for a lyme disease test. Someone suggested that to me. Seemed like a good idea with my symptoms.

They should not put you on replacement meds until they have done all the testing.

I assume they are doing both Growth Hormone and cortisol stimulation testing. Both of those hormones can go low after pit surgery and cause you to feel fatigue and joint pain, although I would guess cortisol is more likely as I know my body aches a LOT when cortisol goes up and down.

It pays to get monitored regularly after pit surgery - things change. It is pretty normal to lose one or more hormones, often thyroid and GH post op... some of us lose more. I lost most, but not so much from my pit surgery but losing the rest of my glands too.
