Dynamic has both with and without contrast, and the tech takes pics while giving you the contrast.
CMP is comprehensive metabolilic panel that most labs have - but it does things like cholesterol etcl.
Thanks for the feedback. What's the difference between a regular MRI and a Dynamic MRI? Also, what is a CMP?
Thanks.
Debbie
Hi this is Angelo from Athens Greece.
I suffered a lot of on and off headach two monts ago and at the same time a lot of pain in my left eye and droopy at the same time.
The eye doctor aftrer he examin me told that there was nothing wrong with my eye and to go and have an MRI.
I was diagnosed with a pituitary adenoma 3 mm, I also had an hormone test and most of the limits were bellow normal levels. (the headach some time had also to do with the low hormone levels).
Two weeks ago I had the surgery for my pituitary adenoma removal.
Now I feel better and better, only my uper limit is still numb.
In two months I will have a new MRI and my first test which will determine if my system camn produce the hormones which are bellow the normal limits, so I will know if I have to change or stop the medication chich I take (T3 and hydrocortizone)
So if you must have an operation go and do it, in my case they told me that I must have the operation and not to leave it.
Take care
Angelo
CT scans do not normally pick up pituitary issues. Dynamic MRIs are best.
Ask for a pituitary work up - so pituitary, thyroid, adrogens, adrenals - get the most testing you can as you want the pit and the feedback loops. A CMP does not accomplish this but can help.
Thanks for your comments. I see my family dr next month and will ask him for follow-up blood work and ask about a CT scan. Other than prolactin levels, should I ask for any other specific blood work?
Debbie
I would go get it checked out.
BTW, I got a pit tumor that had prolactin levels that were abnormal, then normal and yet, I never felt so great... but the docs said ignore it. No symptoms I had, according to them, could be attributed to my tumor.
In the end, I had two tumors - and pathology showed I did have a prolactinoma and Cushing's disease (that was cyclical, hence harder to pick up).
Please make sure that you get monitored - at least your hormones.
I definitely would have this checked out. I have a small 3x4 and I have it checked every year. There are some wonderful people on here that are full of good info but I thought I would respond since know one has yet. I wish you well and keep us posted.
