Should I be Worried

Hi i am a 16 year old male who has been feeling a very weird vague undescribable feeling in my head for the last month or so. The feeling is not painful at all or severe. Since having this i noticed i dream every night and find my self worrying that it is something bad I have got. I have read all the symptoms for major health issues ie brain tumors and i do not match any of the symptoms. I have been to the doctor and she told me that it is either a tension headache or anxiety after asking me questions like do you get tingling in your body which i answerd no. The first time i got this feeling was one morning when i was revising for an exam and i felt this weird feeling in my head.   I do wonder if this is anxiety as the night before i had watch a programme where sombody had died from a brain tumor and i instantly though that it is the cause. The feeling has sometimes completely gone off, and does not get noticeably agrrivated whilst doing weights or exercise. Please can someone help me out so I can put my mind at rest. Its scary as sometimes i do somthing ie get a compliment and i think what does it matter a maybe dieing (thats how scary this is) so can someone please help.

thanks

Sinus issues can be positional - so that can happen. As far as exercise or all, I was never told to avoid any of that unless it was right after surgery.

I am very interested to read this post. If you feel something wrong you take a test and consult any doctor. .

Hi
Could you please just lend me some advise as you suffered from this? All i would like to know is can doing exercise or anything such as lifting things or bending over increase the feeling of pressure, if so should I avoid lifting weights playing sport etc? I would ask my doctor but i dont have another appointment till i have my scan and would not like to worsen my symptoms.

Thanks

I had sinus surgery - combined it with one of my thyroid surgeries which in retrospect was a big mistake since I could not move my neck enough to drain my sinuses so it just made recovery longer... so don't do that!

Hope the antibiotics does it!

Thanks for the support it seems to help my symptoms by being reassured about things, can i add that i thing what doesn't help my anxiety though is that i may have to have surgery if the sinusitis is quite bad but as long as i get better, but hopefully it will just be a coarse of anti-biotics

The sinuses go way back in the head. I had an infection way up in my head and it was a mess... and the dang thing is so persistent as well.

Anxiety is a pretty common thing - if you check the posts here we get a LOT of posts where people are convinced they have a tumor and few check back in and say they do. It is not a common occurrence.

Get your exams, get treated and feel better.

Hi
I am going to go for a scan to see how effected my sinuses are i am also going to go to the opticians as the veins in the whites of my eyes are showing up noticeably which my doctor said could be my sinititus but i just believe is my hayfever or eyestrain form using computers alot. My doctor is not going to look into brain tumors as i passed physical  tests i.e walking in a straight line, knee reflex, pupils reacting to light, standing on one leg etc. Also can i ask i am not feeling the pressure in my head in the traditional sinus area i feel it maby a good 5 6 inches further back then my forehead. Can i also add my doctor realises alot of my symptoms to be GAD, dreaming every night, constant fearing of dying, having massive "oh im oks" during the day to  "i think im going to die", inability to concentrate etc. I also seem to worsen my symptoms when i pay attention to them which is a classic health anxiety symptom. I have always been quite an anxious person aswell for example i never thought of rational things in some situations just like with my head symptoms for example if i phoned someone up and they didn't answer i always though oh no i hope they havent died instead of thinking they must just have gone out. I suppose if i wasn't an anxious person i wouldn't have the symptoms twice as bad as i have them as they don't relay cause me any pain just worry.

Sinus problems can be chronic and do not have to have a runny nose. I have them as well. So it is a good thing to rule that out. A good ENT is very helpful.

The points about motor skills, reflexes etc are true - although not all tumors cause headaches.

Keep us posted. As for the eyes - why not do the eye exam?

Hi
Thanks for the post, i have been to see my doctor again today and they think due to the length of my symptoms i could have chronic sinutitis. My doctor said my dreaming every night is due to me being over anxiouse about my symptoms therfore my brain is in constant overdrive with irrational thoughts running through it. Whilst still talking to my doctor I said that i am still not convinced i have got nothing seriously wrong with me which she replied saying that anything serious in the head would most likely cause me motor problems ie not being able to talk probably etc, serious headaches and would probably get worse with physical activities wich thankfully it doesnt. I also do have blood shot eyes most of the time which she says sinusitis can cause, and although i do not have nasal congestion if i hold my head back for about 10 seconds mucus does run down my throat which sounds disgusting but is just something that happens.

Was that all your doctor tested for?
If this only happens right before a test, then it is probably anxiety for the test. If you had a normal exam (which it sounds like you did), then the doc had no reason to assume there was a reason for imaging.
Another thing to do is a good eye exam. The optic nerve can tell the doctor a lot about the brain. If that is ok, you are likely fine.

Hi
Yes my doctor sent me for blood tests to test for Vitimain b12 deficiency and they came back normal with nothing unusual what so ever.

Hi Joe, we all get headaches and weird aches and pains.  Has your doctor done any blood work?  You could ask for a blood panel, if you have cancer in the family and are worried they can test for cancer with the blood test, also I would have them do a complete blood count to check for diabetes and all so you don't worry.
