Size of extra-axial cystic Lesion

How do doctors classify the size of extra-axial cystic lesion on brain ? One person has a cystic lesion measuring 5.4x5.8x 5.6 cm seen in posterior fossa, towards left side. Do you consider this size is too big, big, medium or small? Is there any complication that is expected due to this size of cystic lesion ?

They tend to classify them by size as comparing them to other things, such as peas,  grapes, golf balls or grapefruits.

Complications vary on location, type of lesion, age and previous health, skill of doctor, and all sorts of things.

Lesion is not very descriptive - it just means a "thing" and that it has not been classified. Cystic means means fluid filled - but you need to know more - like what type of cyst - as it can vary. I would get more information, speak to the doctors. Often removal of the outer layer is needed if possible, not just drainage as cysts refill, but please get more information, and let us know.

Do you consider the size 5.4x5.8x 5.6 cm  to be large, small or medium ? Given its location can this be removed by surgery or there are other methods to treat it ?

Are you symptomatic or not - that will be the trigger for surgery or not. Usually though, if someone has progressed to imaging, one has some sort of inkling that something is going on.

You have to get the cyst classified - as to what kind it is, and then find a doctor to treat you properly. The location of that cyst is poor, as that is a place where the brain stem could be involved.

I could only find information on tumors but not cysts in the posterior fossa. The outlook for tumors there is more critical.
