What are other names for acth test?

Is the Corticotropin (P) the same test as the ACTH?  I'm just trying to figure out some of these names on the labs.

ACTH is used for both Addison's and Cushing's testing- and it is the pituitary hormone.

Thank you for the info and for responding.

I was thinking the acth was the hormone that the pituitary released for the adrenals to release cortisol.  Kind of like the thyroid with TSH and T4,T3.

Can the ACTH test be done to diagnose cushings?

What is the corticotropin (P) test any ideas?

I'm confused........I've been looking at my labs and they did a corticotropin (P) and my results was 16 range is (10-60 a.m. drpg/ml) This test was done at 3:43 PM. They did not give me any dex it was just a regular draw at 3:43 in the afternoon.  It looks like I've never had the ACTH test done is this important?

Cortosyn is usually the ACTH test...

Corticotropin is a CRH stim test - that is for Cushing's, I had that done. I had some flushing, but was otherwise fine. Have you taken dex every 6 hours for ... what is it,  5 days or so?
