What is wrong?

by Stevo99c, Oct 30, 2009 09:21AM
I am 18 and have constant head dizziness and feel "out of it" all the time. It's been going on for at least 1 1/2 years. A lot of times I also feel light headed. I have had a concussion when I was around 10, I hit my head going over a ski jump. As well I find it really hard to get up early and never feel energized when I wake, I can barely get up after a good 8-10 hour sleep.

What doctor have you seen to discuss this - past the ER doc you saw?

Have you seen an ENT or neuro? An eye doc? Had hormones checked? Trauma can effect the pituitary (it happens, but need testing).

What has been done?

The only doc i have seen is my family doctor and he told me to go see a nutritionist but over a year nothing has really changed.
I am going to set up another appointment with him to get a head scan or brain scan, not sure what to do really...

A nutritionist! Ok, that gives me sort of a clue - maybe right, maybe wrong, that the doc thinks that you are lethargic, eating too much, and not being social... maybe a tad overweight?

All of that points to hormones - it could be growth hormone or cortisol, but you need hormone testing before you need diet advise. I suggest you google pituitary and trauma and see if any of the symptoms fit you. A friend of mine had a car accident and then gained a lot of weight afterward, became severely growth hormone deficient and developed Cushing's.

You need a new GP, and find a good endocrinologist.

My friend had your symptoms and had a pituitary tumor - get checked out.
