brain tumor

I had a mri scan 8 years ago because i had tingling in my fingers and face, a non cancerous tumor was found on the lining of my brain and i was told it was slow growing and not to worry they would keep an eye on its progress if any. I was never sent for and just recently ive been having headache daily and the tingling has now gone to my feet also ive got ringing in my ears and other sings. I was told today by a nerosurgeon that its probably grown and thats why ive got these symptoms and its possible they may have to opporate. What id like to know is what are the risks of this opp. also the tumor is at the front so if something went wrong would my personality be affected.

Odds are that it is not a tumor but an arachnoid cyst as those are the most common in the lining of the brain. Your doctor would have to answer about personality changes.

Please do research and make sure your doctor does not just drain it but does a proper removal if that is the case.

The best person to ask about specific surgical risks is your doctor, but generally the risks are skill of surgeon, and anesthesia risks which include scary things like stroke and death but are rare. I have had 12 operations and managed to avoid the odds.
