subarachnid cyst and being a pilot

subarachnid cyst and being a pilot

Back in 7th grade I had a severe concussion and I found I have either a subarachnid cyst or arachnid cyst. Whatever one is actually inside the brain. They said that it was not exerting any pressure and did not hinder me in any way and that it was not a big deal. Well the thing is I am getting into college to become an airline pilot and I was wondering if I will be able to pass the first class faa physical. Would this cyst be an automatic denial of my medical certificate? Should I not tell them even though there are medical records saying I have it? If I am turned down for this it will crush my world. A lot of people have these cysts and dont even know it... Could finding it actually turn out to be a very bad thing for me? I am so stressed right now. It has always been my dream to be a pilot and if this stops me I will cry :*(

Anyways thanks for the help in advance. Have a great day.

In general, arachnoid cysts are benign and are discovered incidentally.  I know that you dreamed about being a pilot, however hiding medical conditions is not advisable.  I would suggest that you get seen by a neurologist so that he/she can fully evaluate you and if it indeed is an arachnoid cyst, write a letter for you saying it's a benign finding.
