My wife just finished chemo 3 weeks ago ( 2ed time in 2 years ), now after a scan ( with in a month of finishing chemo ) the spot in her hip is hot or growing a little... so were going in for radaiation... I thought chemo should have taken care of that in the first place or at least slowed it down. She came back from the doc and said it was a good scan because it hasent spread ( i agree with that ) but i am concerned that we have to go to radiation so quickly, she is on herception and aremidex.....thats what we tried last year and it still spread to the brain and a couple spots on the bone......anyway i thought chemo was supposed to stop it for a little while a least and also has any body herd of any new meds out there yet, I asked her onc about trials..... but she made it out as...... if we go into trial we cant take the hersepitn and aremidex ( or mabee that is how i took it )

Chemo can't always be 100% effective against all cancer cells as it depends on how the tumor/cancer responds to the drugs. When one goes into a trial there are strict rules about any other drugs that can be taken. If several drugs were administered then the trial would be of no use as it would not prove anything as far as the effectiveness of the trial drug. If there were any new forms of treatment your Oncologist would be the first to know of them.   Kindest regards ....
