BREAST PROBLEMS

I HAD A SECOND MAMAGRAM THAT STATES( CLINICAL IINDICATION MRESSION ABNORMAL SCREENING)A LATEROMEDICIAL VIEW AS WELL AS SPOT COMPRESSION VIEW IN THE LM AND CC PROJECTION WERE COMPARED TO THE SCREENING STUDY ON 11/08/07 ON WHICH THERE IS SUSPICION OF DEVELOPING NODULES IN THE LATERAL HEMISPHERE OF THE BREAST.ON TODAYS SUPPLEMENTAL IMAGES THIS AREA APPEARS TO COMPRESS INTO ADJACENT FIBROGLANDULAR TISSUE ON THE SPOT CC PROJECTION AND IS NOT SEEN ON THE LM PROJECTION THIS IS SUGGESTIVE THAT THIS LIKELY REPRESENTATIVE OF SUMMATION ARTIFACT.HOWEVER A DIAGNOSTIC LEFT UNILATERAL MAMAGRAMM IN SIX MONTHS SUGGEST IN FOLLOW UP TO  ESTABLISH STABILTY.IMPREESION THERE IS NO DEFINATE  NODULE IN THE LATERAL HEMISPHERE OF THE BREAST AS DESCRIBED ABOVE.HOWEVER A DIAGNOSTIC UNILATERA  LEFT MAMMAGRAMM IN SIX MONTHS IS SUGGESTED .WHAT DOES THIS ACTUALLY MEAN.

It appears that you had something suspicious on your mammo dated 11/08/07 that they used to compare to this newer mammo.  They *think* they see developing nodules that compress into dense tissue (fibroglandular).  They don't think the suspicious lump is stable (ie probably a cyst) but want you to come back and make sure what they *think* is accurate.

In laymen's terms as best as I can figure, you've got a spot that doesn't exactly make a spot at all angles and they want to watch the spot to see if it changes for the worse (ie gets bigger or denser).

If you haven't consulted with a breast surgeon, I would suggest that you find one you can talk with and get their opinion.  If the surgeon feels there is nothing more than a spot to watch, you should breathe deep and just watch.  If the surgeon wants to biopsy the lump, then he feels it is suspicious enough to take a sample to find out exactly what they are looking at.  The only way to determine if a lump is cancerous is to take a sample.  If they don't feel there is a need to biopsy, then they are more than certain it is just a cyst or a fibroadenoma.  However, they will continue to watch it for changes.

And then again, it could all go away before your next mammo, which means it was just a cyst.

I hope you are lucky and don't have any more to be concerned with!  Please let us know what becomes of the suspicious spot.

Hi,
I suppose your query was in relation to why the mammogram was repeated again and what does the impression reported mean
Your initial mammogram had showed some opacities which were suspicious and were not informative. To have their doubts cleared they screened you again and also subjected you to additional views.
In the end, radiologist had reported it to be artifact. Your breast tissue density was found to be increased. Hence you were advised to have another screening six months later.
There is absolutely nothing to worry about.
