Can zometa repair damage?

Hi,

My wife had another CT scan.  Her last one was at the end of March.  She had six treatments of zometa, six treatments of taxol with gemzar, and six treatments with just gemzar.  She will continue taking zometa every three weeks.  

Can zometa repair damage?

C.T. Notes:

Impression:
Diffuse hepatic, dorsal spine metastatic changes.
Dorsal dextroscoliosis, diffuse body metastatic changes with mild lower compression deformities are basically stable.
Disseminated lumbar spine metastatic destruction has not changed and no interval significant new compression deformities are seen.

Hi.  Zometa can repair damage to bone to a certain extent.  Bone which has been thinned out by the metastases can regain it's strength and thickness with Zometa.  This drug can also prevent the further spread of the cancer in the bones.  Grossly deformed or  damaged bone, however, still has to be repaired surgically.  I haven't seen your wife's CT scan so I cannot tell you whether your wife still needs surgical intervention or if treatment with Zometa will suffice.
