Finger Pain and DCIS

by Sai387, Jul 08, 2008 04:44PM

Hi, in April my sister is diagnosed with DCIS with stage 0 and had a mastectomy due to 9cm diameter of maicrocalcifications. She has a pain just below the finger nail and if any thing be in touch with that area, she  is getting the sever pain. Her Surgeon suggested her to go to finger surgeon and now she is in a terrible condition that she got the bone cancer. What is this finger pain? She is getting it for almost one year and her doctor said it is not the infection. Is this the sign of the bone cancer?

Hi,

Reassure your sister that she has pre-invasive disease not invasive disease. It is only the invasive disease that would have the capability to metastasize.
Bone involvement tends to affect larger bones that the tiny bones of the fingers. Based on the description, it also sounds that it is more soft-tissue, ligaments, tendons, and the nailbed itself that may be causing the pain and not the bone.
Stay positive.
