My wife had a masectomy in 2003 and a reccurrence in 2007 that originated in the skin around her scar. In her last follow up in August, her oconlogist found some fluid building up in her chest area. She went back for a chest x-ray yesterday and the fluid was still there--the same amount it hadn't increased. All her bloods were clean and no evidence of any abnormal cells in any surrounding tissues. The oconologist believes the fluid is from post radiationCystitis - noninfectious Radiation therapy and suggested she come back in 6 weeks for another xray to see if the fluid has diminished. She said at that time she could take a sample of the fluid and exam it to see if there were any cancer cells present. She did not seemed overly concerned, .
