by bobh513, Aug 31, 2009 02:07PM
My wife has metastic breast cancer to her bones.  It is Her2+.  She has done very well for 16 months but now is experiencing major pain in her ribs and hips/legs.  One of her treatments has sideffects of lower extermidy pain.  She is affraid to discuss with her doctor but self treatment is getting harder and harder.  Any suggestions on how to handle minimizing this pain?

Please discuss this with your wife's Oncologist ..... he/she can prescribe something to alleaviate her pain. One under treatment for breast cancer should NEVER self medicate for anything, including pain. Many medications do not blend well with the drugs that are given for the cancer and often can reduce or change the actions of the Chemo drugs. Bone metastises is the most easily controlled of any type of metastisis from breast cancer .... PLEASE consult the Oncologist about this ASAP ...    Regards ....

Radiation may also help control the pain. She does need to be straight up with her doctors. They cannot help if they don't know what they're dealing with.
