Post Radiation side effect

After completing 25 courses of radiation, I got second degree burns on my skin. I have three more course to go, and not sure if I should continue. I have been using Aquaphor along with Aveena to treat the area. Are there any suggestions about other gels and lotions to use that may help me? Thank you very much.

I had 39 sessions of radiation. By the last five, my skin was hanging off. I could not put my arm down. I got major pain medications from the doctor and used fresh aloe. Be sure the area does not get infected. If you get the pain under control, the last three sessions will be more bearable. If you can, stay in bed with your arm elevated above your shoulder and have unerarm facing out toward the air.

I had 33 treatments and towards the end, like around the same time as you, it got really, really bad. My skin was also weeping, and I would take off my t-shirt and pull off the skin that was stuck to it. it soaked through my clothes. (my doctor advised I take off my shirt in the shower after getting it wet, which worked) The thing is this.  it will get worse before it gets better and even after you finish. maybe another week, or so. I had to take heavy pain meds as well because it was so very painful. But then, it gets better, and new skin grows below and it's almost magical to watch, and the very quickly, the whole thing passes and it's totally gone. my doctor told me that there was no worry about infection and I am at high risk because of other health problems and never did have a problem. I could not put anything at all on my skin except for this red liquid soap they handed out which especially helps with the 'wet' type of burn. There are different kinds of burns but believe me, I know. so, i advise you to get percocet or something really strong before it's so bad that you have to suffer. (well, you will still suffer somewhat even with the meds but less) and just know, that no matter how bad it gets, it will heal before you know it.
I was also told to go topless as much as possible but that really was not an option with kids.

Dear katarina777, thank you for your message! I am  very appreciated. Right now I started taking a Silvaden, twice a day, did you hear about it? I don't have blisters now but under my armpit I have some kind of a skin tearing.....It's a good idea to go topless but unfortunately not always possible, when you have a big family, but I still try to go topless when opportunity arises.
Thank you for your message once again, I wish you all the best!!!!
Sincerely,
Gulechka

You are welcome. An ice pack also helps somewhat, but do not put it directly on the skin, of course. They do not advise this over the internet, (one way or another) but privately with your nurse/doctor, they do.
There's just tremendous heat and it keeps on burning after you are done like a microwave. But you will get through it, I promise. and they hardly ever stop treatment because of it.
