StageIV bc and bisphosphonates

1) 1/8/08 I developed stage IV bc w/mets to bone and a favorable response to aromatase inhibitors but then in June went to liver (per PET only, unable to Bx due to visibility on unenhanced scans).
2) All is unchanged as of 1/3/09 but a bit more intense per SUV in liver (but still small).
3)  I hate taking the bisphosphonates- isn't there a clinical way to find out if I really need it instead of just administration prophylactically? (I am a critical care nurse- now on the patients side of the equation)

It's a whole different world on the "other side", isn't it ??? I know a little from past experience.  i'm not sure why you hate taking the Biphosphonates but they are considered very valuable in the treatment of bone mets. There has been some consideration as a preventative for bone mets. also. I suppose you could "beg" your case to your Oncologist but you might be putting your quality of life at risk by stopping.   wishing you the most successful treatment ...
