birads 4A MRI RESULTS

birads 4A MRI RESULTS

below is a copy of my last post. I went to Surgeon today after MRI and they say my MRI  shows assymetrical and that they do not see cysts they see DCIS. and to have MRI Biopsy ASAP. So dr sending me tomorrow for biopsy assymetrical measruing 2 X 4 cm. OPINIONS - below is my last post this is the latest BIRAD is 4A

My history for my question: current age 33 Caucasian female. 06/25/07 has diagnostic mammo with ultrasound mammo said 3-4 cm multiple tiny cystic structure birads 3.  Ultrasound said multiple tiny cystic structure 2-3 cm ( overall have mri or wait short 6 months for repeat) dr advise to wait. Then 04/17/08 very minimal info on diagnostic mammo bi-rads 2 the cluster structure at 2 o.clock in left breast is somewhat smaller on mammo no new densities or calcifcations. US: cluster of cysts measuring together 2.5 to 2.0 no solid masses or abnormalities in left breast, unchanged since prior study except minor degree. 06/20/07 Breast specialist: palpable lump, US: measures 7 cm complex structure core biopsy done.

( previous hysterectomy 02/12/08 due to other issues, previous use of Lupron to put me in chemical menopause – no previous cancer, but suspected ovarian and endometrial in past surgeries and biopsies. 3 children)

Here is my question, after the core biopsy my lymph node under my arm swelled and turned red and painful for 3 days. And the actual core biopsy had a chunk of black in it - what could this indicate or be? Still awaiting results

Hi there.

The pain, redness and swelling in the biopsy site may be an indication of a possible infection, which is a common complication of biopsy procedures.  This may have to be seen by your doctor and possibly receive a course of antibiotics.

The chunk of black on the biopsy specimen may represent blood clots, which really does not tell us anything since blood clots can be present in many breast lesions whether benign or malignant.

I hope that the results would come out soon and that everything will be fine.  Regards and God bless.
