Under Arm lump

by Ojosgris, Oct 27, 2008 11:53AM
I also have had a small lump a kinda pea size or eraser head size for almost 10> years. Some times it feels larger other days smaller with tenderness.   I was diagnosed with Fibroidcystic Breast also Endometriosis in 1993 had 3 surgeries.  ( Back to the lump)  Over the years the Doctor's and Surgeons also said this is nothing to be concerned  about but lately my entire under arm and side of my right breast hurt's alot. I have never had it this bad. Maybe stress does have alot to do with it I have been under an Intense amount of Emotional Stress the past 6 months since my 17 Year old son was struck by a car and died.  My family and I are not doing too well in coping with his death . I did not know it was possible to cry everyday for 6 months.   I constantly worry about my 2 other son's  ( 16 and 20) .  Like when they were little boys I have to constatntly know where they are, What they are doing and when they go out I dont sleep until they get home.  I am so afraid to get that knock on the door again.  And now I am even more stressed   out  worrying about breast cancer etc...and tons of other symptoms i am having.  I have already been to the hospital for heart symptoms that ended up being an anxiety attack.   I worry that this stress can and will bring on illnesses that are lying dorment.     Is that possible???

Hi.

I believe that if these small pea sized lumps has been there for almost 10 years then this is most probably benign.  The diagnosis of fibrocystic breast disease is also a benign condition and this does not increase your risk of developing breast cancer.

Stress and worrying would not trigger cancer transformation, if that's what you are worried about.  However, I am more concerned about your anxiety affecting your entirety.  I believe that you should get professional help, and keep yourself in the company of good friends.

Regards.
