Hello I am a 35 year old mother of 5. I had cervical cancer when I was 19, I had the Leep and it was removed. I had my repeat mammogram on Tuesday. the reports reads:
Bilateral diagnostic digital mammography preformed with CAD. Implant displacement views also preformed. Multiple stable calcification bilaterally. On the right there is a 10 mm smooth nodular density in the 3 o'clock position posteriorly.

7 mm smooth nodule in the upper-outer aspect of the left breast anteriorly.

Bilateral breast ultrasound preformed. On the right, are multiple cyst. The largest is 1.3 cm in the 1 o'clock position, 2 to 3 cm from the nipple.

On the left, are multiple cysts. The largest is at 12:00, 7x 5 mm. In the palpable area, on the left at 4 o'clock position there is a 6 x 6 x 4 mm smooth hypoechoic nodule. This is very superficial in location. This is 10 cm from the nipple.

Impression: The ultrasound demonstrates a small hypoechoic, 10 cm from the nipple. This was not demonstrated on the prior ultrasound in Sept. Aspiration/biopsy recommended BI-RADS Category 4.

How can they do a biopsy with implants????

Hi ,
You know that a BI-RADS score 4,always requires a biopsy, but it doesn't necessarily mean that cancer will be found though, many suspicious lumps turn out benign in nature when biopsied.
Here is some information about what type of biopsy you might have
                           -----------------------------------------------------------
Vacuum-assisted biopsy (brand names, Mammotome or MIBB) allows physicians to perform accurate breast biopsies on women with breast implants.

Vacuum-assisted biopsy relies on stereotactic mammography or ultrasound imaging for guidance.
Stereotactic mammography involves using computers to pinpoint the exact location of a breast mass based on mammograms (x-rays) taken from two different angles. The computer coordinates will help the physician to guide the needle to the correct area in the breast. With ultrasound, the radiologist or surgeon will watch the needle on the ultrasound monitor to help guide it to the area of concern.

The precision and directional abilities of vacuum-assisted biopsy make it the most viable biopsy option for women with breast implants.
                                  -------------------------------------------------
I think the procedure, including preparation etc..takes less than an hour.
Best wishes and I hope you get BENIGN results!
