1.8 x 2.2 cm mass at right breast

I had a ct scan of my kidneys some time ago and a soft tissue mass of the size above mentioned was found. I had a mamogram and a sonogram and nothing was noted, but I was told that my breasts were too fibrous. I was doing a self examination this week and I found a lump in the same breast, but my Dr. insists there is nothing there even though I do feel it. Should I be concerned and ask for a second opinion?

Hi.

It is always your right to seek a second opinion, but  if the sonogram and mammogram did not reveal anything, I believe that your second doctor may not also find anything.

the soft tissue mass in the kidney is also very hard to assess at this point, since it is rather to small to get a sample of (through a biopsy), but is not that small and inconspicuous to ignore (and the solid nature of this mass also cannot be ignored).  I believe that this soft tissue mass should be followed up closely with serial scans, and biopsied if feasible.  I suggest you discuss these options with your doctors.

Regards.
