20 yr old fibrocystic and melanoma

My 20 yr.old niece just told her mom she has had a lump in her breast for about a year and now its getting bigger, so she thought she should tell someone! The US showed 2 lumps. One is 1cm hypoechoic nodule, well defined. The second is below the other and is hard, less mobile 2-3 mm. Fibroadenopathy? fibrocystic areolar changes? and fibrocystic melanoma were all mentioned. She is seen q6mth by a dermatologist for mole checks and removal. The plan is to remove the breast lumps, this is scheduled to be done next week. The location is over the areola. The Dr. seemed to want to move very quickly. Any clarifications will be appreciated. Thanks

Hi,

Has a diagnosis not been reached yet? Is the doctor planning a biopsy also?  As far as melanoma is concerned, if the lesion is one, its known to be aggressive and needs urgent action. Nevertheless, you can take a second opinion if you think that may be required. Also, you can ask your doctor to explain to you why this is required urgently.

Let us know what he says and keep us posted on your health.

Best regards.
