3 simple cysts on each breasts

by cutievet2009, Sep 19, 2009 05:13AM
Hi. I am a member of this community for  more than a year now, after i had my lumpectomy on my right breast last August 23, 2008. The biopsy result was Fibrocystic Changes with Sclerosing Adenosis. I feel a bearable pain from time to time especially during cold months. Two weeks ago, September 1, 2009, I felt a piercing numbing pain on both of my breasts. It stopped when I had my monthly period. After my period, I still feel a dull, bearable pain on both breasts I decided to have my ubreast ultrasound today, September 19, 2009. The ultrasound results showed: BOTH BREAST SHOW NORMAL ECHOPATTERN. THERE ARE AT LEAST 3 SIMPLE CYSTS IN THE RETROAREOLAR AREA OF THE LEFT BREAST, THE LARGEST MEASURING 14.8 X 7.5mm.

A SIMPLE CYST IS NOTED IN THE 1 O'CLOCK POSITION AND IN HTE RETROAREOLAR AREA OF THE RIGHT BREAST, MEASURING 4.6 X 3.6mm  AND  4.6 X 4.2mm  RESPECTIVELY.

TWO SIMPLE CYSTS ARE SEEN IN THE RETRO AREOLAR AREA OF THE RIGHT BREAST MEASURING
7.6 X 5.1mm  AND  9.2 X 4.5mm.

NO CALCIFICATIONS SEEN.

IMPRESSION;

      SIMPLE CYSTS, BOTH BREASTS    ( do I have them removed by surgery? or what this means) TYVM

I see no reason to have these cysts removed ... they aren't particularly large but if they are causing you a lot of discomfort you could have them removed. This of course doesn't mean that others won't develop. You would of course have routine imaging to track any growth of the cysts. I suppose it's an individual decision but I don't think I would go thru surgery to remove a simple cyst.     Regards .....
