AC Taxol vs. CEF

AC Taxol vs. CEF

I am about to start chemo on June 5th.  My oncologist has recommended 6 months of CEF which is a standard protocol in Canada.  I have heard that a more aggressive protocol used for first line treatment in the US is AC Taxol.  Can you refer me to any articles which would compare the two protocols.  Do you have any comments or advice?

Thank you

Dear Pam, The CEF protocol is one of the combinations noted by the U.S. National Institute of Health Consensus Conference of 2000, as being suitable for adjuvant chemotherapy (treatment given after surgery to try to prevent or minimize the growth of microscopic deposits of tumor cells that might grow into a recurrent tumor) for breast cancer.  Their findings are based on review of current literature and interviewing experts in the field of breast cancer treatment. The use of AC and Taxol combination continues to be studied in clinical trials, and I could not find any articles that compare these two treatment regimens.
