Abdominal discomfort after TRAM flap procedure

Abdominal discomfort after TRAM flap procedure

I had bilateral breast reconstruction using a TRAM flap procedure.  My surgery was October 2008.  I am still feeling a lot of discomfort in my abdominal area.  I spoke to my surgeon about this and he just increased my Neurontin and said he has never had anyone complain of discomfort after more than 6 mos.  Can you help me with diagnosing why I am still not feeling "back to normal?"

Dear hers1955:  Without evaluation, it is impossible to speculate on what may be causing your discomfort.  Certainly, everyone responds differently to surgery and recoveries are variable.  Some people scar extensively and others do not.  Sometimes a nerve could be damaged and nerves can take a long time to heal.  You may want to revisit this with your surgeon and ask if he can help you sort out this pain or can he refer you to a specialist who may be better able to help you.
