Abnormal discharge

Two months ago i had a mammogram that was initially determined to be "abnormal". I had a second mammogram and an ultrasound and was told everything was fine. In my self breast exam I today I noticed that one of my breasts has a bloody discharge. I am 42 years old. Should I be concerned?

Hi,
It is good that your mammogram and ultrasound were fine. Do you have any other signs and symptoms? The chances of having nipple discharge increase with age and with the number of pregnancies. Nipple discharge might just be a normal part of the breast's function and usually resolves on its own. However, bloody discharge could be due to Intraductal papilloma, adenosis or fibrocystic changes. It would be best to see your doctor for further evaluation of the discharge and proper management. Take care and keep us posted.
