Anastrozole vs Arimidex in year 4

Anastrozole vs Arimidex in year 4

I've been on Arimidex 1 mg for 3 years, 4 in July-August 2011. Arimidex relegates me to the coverage gap in 3 months. So, with my doctor's blessing (and prescription),  I have been getting Anastrozole 1 mg elsewhere for 1/3 the cost. Following surgery and radiation for stage 1 breast cancer (estrogen receptive), I have been told that I will probably have to take the drug for 5 years. All of my mammograms since 2007 have been negative for additional cancer. I am 70 years old.

Can I continue to safely take Anastrozole?

Anastrolzole is just a generic form of Arimidex, so since you have your doctor's blessing to use it, you should be fine.

I am glad to hear your mammograms have been good since 2007.

Best wishes for continued NED (no evidence of disease) status!!
