Architectural distortion

I just had digital mammography and ultrasound done on right breast to investigate an architectural distortion.  Test came back with distortion showing on one view of mammogram only (side to side) but nothing on other views and ultrasound.  Doctor has recommended MRI with possible biopsy.  I read that scar tissue can show up as a distortion on mammo and I have a scar from an incision under my arm due to a previous lymph node biopsy (which was benign).  Could this abnormality be from the scar?  Will MRI show if it is from scar tissue or will I need a biopsy?

Dear imanning, It is possible that there could be a distortion due to scar tissue, if it is in the same area.  Your doctor would correlate the location of the scar with the findings on the films.
