Aspirin & Tamoxifen

Aspirin & Tamoxifen

I cannot tolerate aromatase inhibitors because of severe muscle spasms throughout my body.  My oncologist has suggested trying Tamoxifen, but first, seeing a hemotologist to determine my risk for blood clots, stroke, etc.  I had surgery on my right carotid artery two weeks prior to my lumpectomy in 2007.  I already take low dose aspirin.  Would that aspirin reduce my risk of blood clots, stroke, etc. if I were to risk the Tamoxifen?  Thanks.

Aromatase Inhibitors are known for having LESS side effects than Tamoxifen so I can't see that you would be gaining anything by switching. The main complaint for both is the joint/muscle pain. AIs are said to not be as risky as far as clots are concerned but the possibility is still there. I doubt that the low dose ASA would reduce the risk of stroke or clot that much but I do think you will experience the same pain with either drug. Keep in mind though that not everyone experiences the same side effects from any drug .... you would have to try it to know how it would affect you.    Regards ....
