Atypia with history ob breats cancer

I am a two year BC, 53 year old, breast cancer survivor having had invasive ductal carcinoma ( 1 positive node, er+ ner2 -, ) treated with partial mastetcomy , chemo and radiation. Now on arimidex. Sono showed changes near scar site and so had core biopsy. Pathology report said ductal epithelial atypia. Med. oncologist wants to do nothing. Have appt with surgeon later in month. My question is : I know that in women with no history of BC atypia is monitored. But in women who have had BC recently,  are there statistics on lilkihood of this developing into a recurrence? Is surgery a reasonable option?  I can't help but feel: What am I waiting for ?  Would an excisional biopsy be valuable ?

I  think that your surgeon will recommend an exisional biopsy. It would be valuable because they take out the entire suspicious area and test it to determine what these atypical cells really are.
