Atypical Ductal Hyperplasia

by jillyo5, Nov 04, 2009 12:07PM
I'm a little nervous about having the surgery, but I know it will all be worth it.  Surgery is scheduled for Tuesday, 11/24 and I plan to go back to work on Monday, 12/1.  I am an Executive Assistant and sit at a desk, but I do alot of running around.  Do you think a week is enough time to heal?  What should I expect before, during and after surgery?  Thanks!

Hi,
I think that a week off work is quite enough after a lumpectomy.I had a partial mastectomy (Akin to lumpectomy) and I was just fine from the first day after surgery. My only pain killer was simply "Tylenol".Also try wearing a good supportive bra because it  helps a lot.You will probably be advised by your surgeon to do some light exercises starting the day after surgery which will also help you heal faster. Doing a lot of running around in your job should not interfere with the healing process..only don't do heavy lifting or over work the arm on the side where your surgery was done.Best wishes on your upcoming surgery.
