Axillary Nodes and Simple Cyst

I recently had my mammogram and ultrasound done and I have a 7cm simple cyst in right breast and a 1 cm axillary node in left breast. I have had the node for several years, but Doctor has never suggessted removal, biopsy or aspirations. The simple cyst is new, no pain etc. Should there be a biopsy, and what is an axillary node?

Dear LESAAN:  As long as the cyst is not causing you any discomfort, there is no reason to do anything.  Regarding the node, an axillary lymph node is one of many that are located in the armpit.  Usually, we cannot feel them as they are quite small.  Sometimes, in the presence of infection, inflammation or in some cases cancer, they can become enlarged.  Left alone, a cancer will generally grow.  It is difficult on the internet to give a specific recommendation, you might consider a specific discussion with your doctor or a second opinion if you are concerned.
