Hi Debbie ... yes, unfortunately it has been proven that HRTHormone replacement therapy does indeed increase one's risk for developing breast cancer. Certainly you are not alone as HRTHormone replacement therapy was administered quite freely in the past. This doesn't necessarily mean that your biopsy will result in a finding of cancer. Microcalcifications indicate that the breast tissue is responding to something within the breast that isn't normalNormal saline flush; NOT always cancer though. If HRT is prescribed today it is recommended to be a the lowest dose possible and for a very short time. Keep us posted and return with any concern you have regarding your biopsy or results.
