BREAST BIOPSY

Sorry to bother so much, i asked the question about having a hard part of my breast after a core needle biopsy which shows a 1cm fibrodeanoma. You told me that i have the possibility of having a scar tissue on my breast. Is it normal to have a scar tissue on my breast after a biopsy? could i have a problem next month on my follow-up. I'm so scare about breast cancer! i've been reading so much about developing cancer after a biosy! is this true???

Thank you in advance.

Dear Heidyrenz25, Scar tissue can develop after a biopsy and is a possible explanation for the hardness felt after a biopsy, although without examination it is impossible to know.  A biopsy does not cause breast cancer to occur.  A biopsy is done to obtain a specimen so the cells from the area of concern can be examined under a microscope to see whether there is cancer or not.   If you have continuing concerns about your biopsy area, you should return to your doctor for further evaluation.
