BREAST PAIN

I HAVE HAD PAIN IN LEFT BREAST FOR 3 MONTHS. STARTED 2 DAYS AFTER MY ANNUAL EXAM WITH MY GYN. I HAVE BEEN TAKING 800I.U OF VITAMIN E DAILY AND CUT OUT CAFFINE AND CHOCOLATE AND WENT BACK TO MY DR. THEN HAD ULTRASOUND.IT SHOWED NO SIGNS OF CANCER,HOWEVER WAS TOLD MY BREAST WAS VERY LUMPY AND GOT NO EXPLANTION FOR MY PAIN. MY DR. WANTS ME TO TAKE CIPRO FOR POSSIBLE BREAST INFECTION.  I DID HAVE INFECTION 2 YEARS AGO DURING MY PREGNANCY, IN WHICH CASE MY BREAST TURNED BLACK AND I WAS IN EXTREME PAIN. MY DR. SAYS HE CAN FEEL A LUMP SO IS TAKING THE MEDS. A GOOG IDEA WITHOUT KNOWING FOR SURE ABOUT INFECTION OR SHOULD I PUSH FOR A MRI SINCE I AM ONLY 28 AND A MAMMO WILL PROBABLY NOT SHOW MUCH BECAUSE OF THE DENSITY OF MY BREAST? I HAVE NOTICED THERE IS LESS PAIN AND SOMETINES NO PAIN WHEN I START MY PERIOD, BUT PAIN QUICKLY RETURNS WHEN MY PERIOD STOPS.I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO TELL YOU I HAVE NEVER BREAST FED WHICH MAKES ME QUESTION THE ASSUMPTION OF AN INFECTION.

Dear Clasea:  Without evaluation, it is not possible for us to speculate on the possible causes for your pain.  Certainly, breast pain is common, especially during certain times during the menstrual cycle.  If you are not comfortable with the advice you have received from your doctor, you might consider a second opinion.
