Biopsy interpretation

Biopsy interpretation

I received the results of a needle biopsy from a lump in my left breast and would appreciate some help in understanding it. I am 38 years old and discovered it during the weening process with my 8 month old daughter. There is no histiory of breast cancer in my family. I am having it removed.

The biopsy reads:
"Aspirate consists of honeycomb and syncytial sheets of ductal cells with dishesive change and atypia.  Stromal fragments abd macrophages are also noted.  Differential diagnosis includes atypical proliferative fibrocystic change vs. atypical fibroadenoma".

The last sentence is what I reaaly want to understand. Even if this mass is benign, am I at higher risk for brest cancer in the future? What is the difference between atypical proliferative fibrocystic change and an atypical fibroadenoma? Is this the same as atypical hyperplastia which is considered a risk element for developing breast cancer?
Thank you so much!

Dear Kayt, Atypical proliferative fibrocystic change is a description of a benign breast condition under the category of fibrocystic changes, and basically means atypical hyperplasia.  An attempt has been made to describe the relative risk of breast cancer based on certain characteristics of fibrocystic changes.  In the literature relative risk for breast cancer for women with proliferative disease with atypia is 4-5. Meaning if lifetime risk for a women without this characteristic = 1, then with this characteristic the risk increases to 4-5 over a lifetime or 4-5 times the risk of the women without this characteristic.

A  fibroadenoma  is also a common noncancerous (benign) lump.  It
