Biopsy statistics

We hear the statistic that 80% of biopsies are benign.  If they take 7 samples in a sterotactic biopsy- does this count as 1 biopsy or as 7?

I believe they will tell you this just counts as one tissue sample, even though they take 7 or 8 separate pieces.  Even if you have more than one site biopsied on the same breast, I believe they will say it doesn't change your odds.  That is what I was told by the experts here.

Dear notmyturn:  In general, when referring to a biopsy, one procedure for one abnormality is one biopsy.  In your example, the 7 samples equals one biopsy.
