Biopsy

I am a 3 time breast cancer survivor. I went for my 4 month check up with my Onc. He found a lump on my neck..Cervical spine..near my jaw line.. the opposite side of my cancer.. (all my cancer was on the left side) He is setting up MRI and then PET.. he mentioned biopsy. What are the chances that this is from my original breast cancer.. or could this possibly be a NEW cancer? Could this just be a fatty cyst? It doesnt move.. its hard.. and I have no pain at all. I never realized it was there until the Dr showed me..What type of biopsy would they use? and could I be knocked out for this procedure. I have had many breast biopsies over the last 8 yrs..lung biopsy, and lymph nodes.. I dont think I could handle being awake for a biopsy on myneck

This may be just another lymph node or also one of the causes that you mentioned in your post. I see no reason for anything other than a local anesthetic for this type of biopsy as it would be much the same as the other procedures you say you have had.   Regards .....

Congratulations on being a 3 time BC Survivor!!

Although a biopsy on the neck has an "ick factor" to it, it's no different than a biopsy anywhere else. I know when I had my reconstruction surgery I had my IV in my jugular and also had my port inserted into my jugular for my chemo treatments as all my veins had shut down.

I'm crossing fingers and toes that this will be a "NOTHING" find and that you are done with cancer! Best wishes and please let us know how you're doing.
