Brachy breast radiation causing damage brachial plexy

I had brachy breast radiation 3 years ago after a lumpectomy and now have terrible pain from neck to shoulder and down arm.  I have been to many doctors that say they are seeing this yet I don't see a lot of information about this.  Are doctors reporting this, as I think this needs to be addressed  My life has become a living hell because there is no cure and I wouldn't want this to happen to anyone else.  This side effect should be on the consent form and explained that it has happened and if it does it is not reversible as far as I know.  I see one posting from 2001 but there must be many more women out there and I would love to hear from them

This discussion is related to Brachial Plexus damage.

That is true about no test being available to prove that your terrible circumstance is due to the radiation. There would be any number of tests that might prove it due to some other factor but I'm sure you have been investigated to the Nth degree by now. There are nerve blocking procedures that could be explored but since you are connected with a Pain Clinic I suppose those options have also been discussed. Waking up one day pain free would be wonderful and I hope it happens for you ..  Regards ...

Yes am under care of pain management dr. and have tried Lyrica, Gabapentin (too many side effects) and now Cymbalta.  All kinds of pain meds that don't work.  I am getting so discouraged as there is no specific test to say this is radiation.  I am hoping they are all wrong and I will wake up tomorrow pain free.

I also have heard very little of this. I don't believe that each and every untoward effect from any type of treatment could be listed on the consent forms but I do think that all possibilities should be discussed with the patient when deciding on any treatment plan. Have you had any consultations with Dr.s at Pain Clinics ??? If not this may be of considerable help with your present situation.  Kindest regards ....
