Breast Cancer and lynch syndrome

so I had gentic testing for lynch syndrome. (Its called the cancer syndrome) anyway they were worried because my mom died from ovarian cancer and that I had polyps. So I tested negative for the breast cancer gene. good news but then I had my first mamogram and I have dense tissue in one breast. So I have a follow up mamogram and ultrasound on tuesday. Devin is really nervous. I am thinking if i have dense tissue, shouldn't it be dense in both breast. The person who did the mamogram first took great care to get good pictures. So I am unsure. As my breast due hurt once in a while but I figured that I has just had a baby last year. So I am worried.

I must admit that I am a little confused by your post and not sure exactly what you are asking here. Lynch Syndrome has connection to many types of cancer ... Breast Cancer is NOT one of them. Breast pain is usually a result of hormone activity and I presume that since you had a baby just last year that you may not be over the age of 40 ..... Dense breast tissue is present in nearly half of all women of any age. This does not mean that you are at a higher risk for developing Breast Cancer. Not sure why you are worried as far as any breast issue and I have no idea who Devin is either and why they would be "really nervous".. I see no report on your Mammogram and Ultrasound but from what you did post you have dense breast tissue but nothing other than that. I also don't know when you had your first Mammo and US or the distance between those tests and the ones you have scheduled or why they are being repeated. If you have a definite question please come back and ask; it would help if we had more details but here we deal ONLY with Breast Cancer issues. There are other Forums and Communities that do deal with other types of cancer so you might post a question there if it deals with any other cancer issue.  Regards ...

No to my knowledge it isn't one of the cancers that is usually included in the list .... I believe the main one is concerning the intestinal issues. It is true that dense breast tissue often is more difficult to "see through" with the routine tests such as Mammogram. If there is a questionable finding a Breast MRI can be done which is much more sensitive but I don't believe there was anything suspicious mentioned in your reports ... just the dense tissue. Unless there is a strong family history (of breast cancer) Mammograms are not usually done on women under the age of 40 due to the fact of tissue density. You would think that the tissue in both breasts might be the same but I don't think that's a "given" as our breasts are never exactly the same .... size, etc. Now if there was a "density" seen .... which would be only one area of the breast then this might call for more investigation since a dense small area may indicate some sort of abnormality but not necessarily cancer. Sometimes a small area of this nature can be as simple as some tissue that has folded over on itself and creates a type of shadow or thickness on film. Compression views may be used in your follow-up films to compress the area out and give a clearer view. I'm thinking this might have been the case here rather than just one breast with dense tissue and one without. I see that you have posted again so I will read that one now and answer if I have left anything out here.  Regards ....

I am sorry I am worried so I don't think I was very clear.  I am 36 years old and I had my first mammogram about a week ago. They said they found dense tissue in my right breast and that i have to go back for another mammogram and ultrasound. I know that it is common but if my breast were dense, wouldn't it be in both breast. Also the woman who took the first pictures was very careful and took multiple shots to make sure to get the best one.  I am being tested for lynch syndrome and i thought the breast cancer was included on that list. I had a colonscopy because I was bleeding and they found precancerous polpys.  THis is why I am being tested for lynch syndrome. thank you
