Breast Cancer w/Pulmonary metastases

Mom my has reoccurrance of breast cancer with pulmonary metastases.  20 years ago she had mastecomy and radiation treaments.  Current CT revealed "calcified granulomata bilaterally & cyst in liver".  Since last CT more nodules and some larger.  "Evidence of old granulomatous disease with calcified nodules bilaterally".  The CT could not determine in metastatic lesion or noncalcified granuloma.  She had surgery 2 years agoto get biopsy which was inconclusive.
What other tests can be done to determine if cancer or not?  She is being treated with Femara now, is there anything else?  What is prognosis?  How can you treat if not cancer?

Dear mom69:  I'm not certain I completely understand your problem but let me try.  As I understand it, your mother has multiple lung lesions that cannot be differentiated from granulomas?  The only way to definitively proove that this is metastatic is with a biopsy but most are able to make a very educated guess based on CT scans.  Other tests that MAY help MIGHT be a PET scan.  There are many possible treatments for metastatic breast cancer and with the information here, it is impossible to guess at prognosis.
