Breast Lump Post Mastectomy

by Shellinsky, Jul 20, 2004 12:00AM
I had a Simple Mastectomy Rt. Breast August 2003, with Sentinal Node Neg. I now have a breast lump in same spot 12:00, awaiting biopsy results. Question- "What percentage of cases have a chest wall reoccurance post mastecomy".  On biopsy, no fluid was extracted. Is this unusual, or common, I am extremly worried, what is the likelyhood that this could be nothing serious.  I am 46 years old, not overweight, pretty athletic.

Dear Shellinsky:  If the tumor was removed with clean margins, the chance of local recurrence is fairly low.  Unfortunately, even when the odds are small, these things can happen.  Hopefully, the biopsy will shed some light on the situation.
