Breast Nipple change

My friends nipple at the end has turned black - what reason would you give for htis?

Hi there.

There can be several reasons for this.  A common phenomenon has something to do with natural pigmentation changes as a person ages.  There could be hyperpigmented spots in the breast and these can be asymmetrical.  Another possible cause is the presence of infection in the nipple that can cause post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.  A rare cause is called Paget's disease of the breast and can be diagnosed through biopsy.  If there are any concerns I suggest that your friend have this looked at by her doctor.
