Breast Pain

by chezbolen, Apr 23, 2008 03:40PM
Back in 05 when i was 26 i had to have a hysterectomy due to the fact that i was having cysts rupturing on my ovaries constantly.   I started having cysts on my ovaries back when i was 14 however,  after being in the  hospital for the pain once a week for 3 years they finally decided to take everything out.  I was fine for about 2 years then back in december of 07 i started having severe pain in my left breast.  I have been to a few dr.'s but they said that you can not get rupturing cysts on your breast and i am fine just go home.  I do find lumps when the pain gets at its worse but within 20 min its gone and i have pain shooting down my arm and into my stomach.  It is starting to get in the way of my life and work.  Somedays i cant even get out of bed it hurts so bad. Shortly after that i started having abdominal pain and after doing a colonoscopy they found cysts in my intestines, but they say that is from the ani-inflamitories i was taking for the pain. Which by the way did nothing for the pain. I am not sure what i should do because the dr.s are saying its nothing, and one has nothing to do with the other.  I have no clue what to do next, or what to say to get someone to listen to me.  Please someone help.

Dear chezbolen:  Breast pain is actually quite common and is most often associated with certain times during the menstrual cycle.  Cysts can also come and go and can sometimes be painful but do not typically rupture – as they do in ovaries.  If cysts are causing pain, they can be aspirated (fluid withdrawn with a needle).  Most breast cancer is not painful.  Regarding the breast pain, you could seek the opinion of a medical breast specialist (often affiliated with large medical centers).  Regarding all of the other problems you list, you might consider a good internist to evaluate why you may be developing all these "cysts."
