Breast Trauma four years ago

Breast Trauma four years ago

I had trauma to my breast four years ago. I fell on the corner of my marble bathroom vanity top. I had subsequent mammograms and ultrasounds as recommended. The scar tissue was followed until "all resolved" came back the subsequent year. I have had routine mammos since and my last was September of 08 with normal results. Last month, I discovered a nodule while checking my breast in the same exact spot of the trauma. I have since had a an ultrasound that indicated a "echogenic benign structure". This was what the radiologist at the breast specialty indicated.  The original radiologist thought it was either a lipoma or a sebacious cyst. My doctor had suggested a FNA or Core needle biopsy, just to make sure. However, the radiologist said he would do a vacuum assisted biopsy and insert a titanium chip??
I am confused and would like to know if you think that this can be related to the trauma even though it was four years ago. Additionally, it is customary to insert a chip for something that two radiologist already think is "benign"...thanks and I am making an appointment for a breast specialist in my area just to make sure. I want to know if this trauma can lead to cancer and if I will be plagued with issues with this breast as a result of the trauma. Thanks so much for your help.

Unless this nodule turns out ot be related to scar tissue I doubt it would be due to your injury. The reason that injury is often associated with BC is because the injury leads to some sort of examination which sometimes reveals a breast cancer issue ..... not related, just found because of the investigation following injury. The insertion of the titanium chip would no doubt be so that the area would be noted to have been biopsied and not cause for further investigation in the future. Your choice to see a Breast Specialist is an excellent one since you've had slightly opposing opinions.   Regards ....
