Breast cancer and osteolytic metastases, Osteoblastic metastases

I was wondering that if a persons breast cancer had been in remission for a year if they could have osteoltic matastases or osteoblastics metastases.  My mom has been in a remission for a year but has had rib pain for about four months since her reconstruction surgery.  The doctors found three spots of concern on her Pet Scan, her rib, hip and pelvic area.  The other tests show no cancer so I was wonder that since she has been cancer free, as far as we know, is there any possiblility of osteolytic metastases or osteoblastic metastases if she has had no recent detection of cancer.

Dear hscheff:  Breast cancer can spread to any part of the body, even if there has been a remission.  If your mom is having rib pain and there are areas of concern on a pet scan, it is possible that she does have disease in her bones.  Additional x-rays and/or a bone scan may help to confirm if this is the case.
