Breast concerns

I am 37 with no family history of breast cancer. I had a lumpectomy in June 2003 which was a mass but was benign. I have had several lumps in my breast since Nov 2002. They removed the one mass and since it was benign they did not remove the others which several years later I still have. They said they were Fibroid Cysts. None of my many mammograms showed the lumps which were obvious to feel. I have not had a mammogram since 2004. In the last few days I have noticed swollen lymps under my arm and my left breast is very swollen. There is no pain unless I continue to press on the lumps. I have had pain in the same shoulder with the swollen lymph and also pain in the front of my hip for several months. There is no discoloration, pitting, nipple discharge or nipple concern. Can fibroid cysts spend under the arm? What do you think?

Hi,
You need to get a repeat mammogram done. Also because you know you have breast lesions you should be more regular in your follow ups. The swelling under your arm could also be swollen lymph nodes. Fibroid cysts also can spread to the region under the arm though this is seen rarely. You need a clinical evaluation by a physician immediately and a follow up every 6 months alongwith a mammogram / USG at the earliest and a repeat annually. Goodluck.
