Breast lumps and cafeine?

I have a friend who went in for her annual mammagram and they found a lump. They said it could be due to too much cafeine consumption. They also said if it gets any bigger, to go back in to the Dr. in a month or so. First, is this very common? Second, shouldn't the Dr. have done more testing to make sure that it isn't cancer?

Dear Robyakima, Caffeine can contribute to the development of cysts, and avoidance of caffeine may help to alleviate the problem.  If the problem continues and or worsens for your friend then further evaluation will likely be recommended.   It is difficult to comment on whether more testing would have been appropriate at this time without seeing the films and physical examination.
