Breast odor

Three weeks before any other signs appeared, my breast was giving off a slightly foul odor. Then 3- 3 1/2 weeks later a tender red area appeared which my doctor diagnosed as infection.
I am currently taking Keflex for the infection.
I have a friend suffering from inflammatory breast cancer and I remember she had an odor.

I forgot to tell my doctor about the odor when I saw her. Should I worry? She thinks it is a skin infection. Should I have the area surgically removed or tested for cancer??

Dear nana1107:  If this resolves with the keflex, then this likely was an infection.  If it does not, or if you are concerned, you should see your doctor or a breast specialist for further evaluation.
