Burning in breast

by Andria146, Apr 15, 2008 02:36AM
Hello. I was reading what another person wrote. I started having discharge from my left breast in January of 2008. Now. I am having really bad burning, swelling, and both breasts. My breasts are looking red. My right breast is starting to look like an orange peel with an inverted nipple. My left nipple is starting to go flat. Am I just worrying for nothing?

I went to my doctor's office and was seen by a PA and was told that she had to talk to my doctor. She comes back in the room and said when I asked her about having an infection and she said that it wasn't an infection. You need to see the surgeon (surgical oncologist). She told me that I may have Inflammatory Breast Cancer which isn't seen on mammograms or ultrasounds until the late stages. I don't think this is normal. Either is drk green and red discharge from a breast.

What do I do to stop the burning? It feels like they are burning off. I can't wait to see the surgical oncologist in Milwaukee, WI. They are waiting for my mammogram reports of the ones I had a few years ago.

I have fibrocystic breasts and that I don't like. I thought oh maybe I had to much caffeine and I didn't have any for a few days. Now, the burning is spreading towards my armpit. It isn't from soap or a different type of deodorant.

I don't know what to think. Cancer runs in my family.

Is surgery or a biopsy required? I was told to stop the discharge that I would have to have a mastectomy. Is that true?

Thanks.

Hi,

You definitely need to see a specialist and find out the exact cause of your symptoms.

At this point nothing can be said with surety - you would need a clinical examination and certain investigations before a diagnosis is reached.

Could you post the mammogram and ultrasound reports here? Has the discharge been sent for lab analysis?

Your surgeon would decide whether you need a biopsy or not.

Let us know what your doctor advises and post us if you have any other doubts. Keep us posted on how you are doing.

Regards.
