CAFFIENE, VITAMIN E, LEFT BREAST?

by MICKYH, Feb 19, 2003 12:00AM
I am 32 years old & have pain in my left breast, I went for a mammogram and my doctor seems to think everything is ok but would like me to have a follow up mammogram in 6 months.
When looking through the questions posted here, it's seems to be most questions have to do with a problem in the left breast. Also my doctor has told me to stop all caffiene and to take vitamin E daily. Are these three things all coincidence or is there any medical findings for this?

Thanks for your help!

Dear MICKYH:  I am not aware of any evidence suggesting that breast problems occur more commonly in either the right or left breast.  The caffeine and vitamin E recommendations are likely to reduce the occurence of cystic tissue that can be a common source of breast discomfort.

My left breast has been very tender most of my life.  I am also left handed.  I have had a mammogram every year and all is well.  My question is what are other names for caffiene on labels so that I can identify them?
